How do I get to Ho Chi Minh City from Australia?
Jetstar flies direct from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh City, with Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet also operating the route, in roughly eight to nine hours. Tan Son Nhat Airport is only 30–40 minutes from District 1. Australians need an e-visa, applied for online before travel.
When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?
December to April is the dry season, with February and March the sunniest. May to November is the wet season, but showers are typically a heavy late-afternoon burst rather than all-day rain, and hotel rates soften. Tet (Vietnamese New Year, usually late January or February) is festive but many businesses close.

District 1 for first-timers — walkable to the landmarks, the best hotels and the nightlife. District 3 for a quieter, tree-lined boutique base still minutes from the centre.
